Planning application checklists

Planning application checklists

Validation checklists help you send the right documents with your application.

A valid planning application must include:

  • a completed application form
  • the correct fee
  • supporting plans and documents, known as national or local information requirements

Nearly half of applications get rejected right away. Usually because they’re missing key documents, or the plans are not drawn to scale.

Our checklists will help you get the right documents ready.

Checklists by application type

Other application types

We do not have checklists for these. What you need to send depends on the kind of work you plan to do. Check your proposal against both the national and local lists to see what you must include.

Outline planning permission

Planning Officers and consultees need key information at the outline stage, not later. We must check if the site is right for what you want to build. This helps prevent costly changes later on.

You cannot send this information later or ask us to add it as a condition. If you leave it out, we will make your application invalid.
