Apprenticeships

Our apprenticeship programme allows people to work for the council to develop their skills and knowledge whilst gaining a qualification. All apprentices will:

  • be employed by the council
  • earn a wage
  • follow a training programme
  • receive both on and off the job training
  • develop their skills to ensure they can do the job well

National Apprenticeships

Use the national apprenticeship search on GOV.UK to search and apply for apprenticeships in England.

Adult education

The Northumberland Skills Team offer residents a wide variety of full and part time courses for 16-18 year olds and adults.

Open on Tuesdays, 9:30am to 1pm, at the Cramlington Hub (next door to Concordia) offering you:

  • job search and careers guidance
  • application advice and CV updates
  • access employment opportunities
  • interview tips
  • boost your confidence and skills with maths, english and digital
  • access support for self employment
  • free training courses (eligibility criteria apply)
  • help with costs of finding a job e.g. travel and clothing
  • volunteering opportunities
  • health & wellbeing support

National Careers Service

Provides information, advice and guidance and can help you make decisions on learning, training and work at all stages of your career.

Our Employability Team

We offer a number of employment and skills programmes, in partnership with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and North East Combined Authority. We also work with local businesses matching people in Northumberland with vacancies, or work experience.
