How often do I need to apply for a DBS check?

DBS checks are required every three years for:

• PSV licensed Drivers
• Passenger Transport Assistants.

Taxi drivers undertake a DBS check every year as part of the annual renewal of their taxi license. 

What is the DBS Update Service and how much does it cost to join?

For an annual subscription of (currently) £13, an applicant can have their DBS certificate kept up-to-date and take it with them from role to role, within the same workforce, where the same type and level of check is required.     

You must apply to join this update service within 28 days of an application for a DBS check or within 19 days of receipt of a DBS Disclosure.
