How long repairs take

Once we receive a report, we will go out and assess the damage.

If we consider the damage to be a serious risk to road users, we will repair it within 24 hours.

Potholes that aren't a serious risk will be repaired within 14 to 28 days.

Potholes on major roads will be prioritised over those on smaller roads which typically see less traffic.

Although we regularly assess our roads, we rely on reports from the public as damage can sometimes appear suddenly, particularly during periods of bad weather.

Damage to vehicles or a personal injury

We are only potentially liable to pay damages to vehicles or for personal injuries if we have been negligent. For example, if the pothole has been reported and we haven't dealt with it in the necessary timeframe.

We cannot be expected to keep roads free of potholes at all times, repairs can be harder to do during periods of bad weather.
