Discover scenic trails featuring castles, Roman sites, lakes, and forests for cyclists of all levels.

Coast and Castles Route

A scenic and flat route that runs between Tynemouth and Berwick upon Tweed. Attractions along this route include:

  • Warkworth, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh
  • Druridge Bay Country Park
  • Lindisfarne
  • Woodhorn Museum

Hadrian's Cycleway

This route is 170 miles coast-to-coast and follows the line of Hadrian's Wall. It stretches along the picturesque Tyne Valley between Gilsland and Wylam Attractions include many Roman sites, forts and museums.

Pennine Cycleway

This route includes some of Northumberland's most stunning scenery. It runs from Derby to Berwick upon Tweed, crossing Hadrian's Wall. The route passes through Kielder Forest and Northumberland National Park, before continuing through the southern Cheviot Hills. It ends at the historic border town of Berwick.

Reivers Cycle Route

This challenging route runs from Tynemouth to Whitehaven via Ponteland, Bellingham, Kielder Water and the northern edges of the Lake District.

Cycling at Kielder

The Kielder Forest area is ideal for mountain biking. There're 13 marked trails which vary from easy to demanding.

The Lakeside Way is a new 27-mile path around the lake. It provides access to beautiful views and wildlife.
