Apply or renew an older person's bus pass
Concessionary travel pass for older people, including eligibility, required documents, and application methods.
Older person eligibility criteria
You're an eligible older person if you're of state pension age.
To prove your age, supply proof of birth date. Photocopies of originals are accepted:
- birth certificate
- current passport
- driver’s licence
You will also need to supply proof that you live in Northumberland, for example:
- council tax bill
- recent utility bill
You should apply for an older person's pass no more than 28 days before you reach state pension age.

After you apply: next steps
We will aim to send your pass within 15 working days of receiving your application.
To ensure we can do this, please provide all the necessary supporting evidence with your application.
If your application is unclear or incomplete, we will have to contact you. This will result in a delay in your application.
Renew your pass
To renew a pass, you will use the same application process as you do to apply.
This should be done 28 days before your current pass is due to expire.
