Become a Community Health Champion

You will be:

  • making a positive impact on the health choices of those in your communities
  • stopping the spread of misinformation

Those who have close and trusted relationships with residents are best placed to share this information.

Roles available

You must be aged 16 or older, and live or work in Northumberland to apply for one of the following roles:

Sharer

You'll receive Public Health updates and campaign resources to share with your community and social networks.

Shaper

Besides receiving Public Health updates and campaign resources, you're invited to attend quarterly message shaping meetings via Teams to give feedback.

Shapers will receive a link to a 'Making Every Contact Count for Champions' webinar. This is designed to develop skills and knowledge in sharing health messages and having health-related conversations.

Shapers and Sharers are not formal volunteers and are not committing a set amount of time to the role.

Supporter

You're registering your interest in a formal volunteer position with Northumberland County Council. Within this role, you'll support Northumberland's Health Trainers and wider Public Health team.

Supporter's will be given full training. his will include a volunteer induction and Royal Society of Public Health Level 2 Award in Understanding Health Improvement.
