If you live in a residential property within a residents’ parking scheme area, i.e. ‘permit holders only’, you’ll need to apply for a permit to park during restricted hours. A permit doesn’t guarantee a parking space outside of your property, because resident bays aren’t allocated to individual properties. View the terms and conditions here.

The annual cost of either a resident or a visitor permit is now £30.00 each.

How to apply

You can apply, upload evidence and pay for your permits online.  If we require any further information we will email you, otherwise your permits will be automatically sent to you, usually within 5 working days.

You will be asked to provide proof of residency and vehicle information.  You can submit scans of the documents or photographs. If you are a Blue Badge holder you will also need to submit an image of both sides of your valid Blue Badge.

Please make sure all images are clear and legible.

Your local Customer Information Centre will be able to assist with your application if you do not have internet access.

Apply for a residents parking or visitors parking permit here.

You can display the receipt of payment in your windscreen until the permit has been received. If you have not received an email requesting further information or your permit within 10 days of application and payment please contact Parking Services at parkingservices@northumberland.gov.uk  or call on 0345 600 6400.

Additional permits

You can apply for up to two permits per property - one for a registered vehicle and one visitor permit. Requests for additional permits may be considered at the time of renewal, providing there is enough capacity within your scheme.

You can make a request to be considered for a third permit during your online permit application.

Replacement permits

If you change your vehicle you’ll need to apply for a replacement permit. Residents can have one free of charge replacement permit per year. We will need to see proof of your new vehicle, and any further replacements will cost £30.

Lost or damaged permit replacements cost £30. The lost permit will be cancelled and we will issue you with a replacement. There is no need to supply more evidence.

Stolen permits will be replaced free of charge if you have a valid police crime number.  There is no need to supply more evidence.

Please contact Parking Services at parkingservices@northumberland.gov.uk to request a replacement or call on 0345 600 6400.
