Park and pay by phone

Pay using the PayByPhone app or over the phone.

Paying online

We use the PayByPhone service in Northumberland County Council car parks.

You only need to set up an account once and then it can be used in all car parks where PayByPhone is in operation.

Why use the PayByPhone app?

  • you don't have to worry about having the correct change
  • you don't need to display a ticket in your vehicle
  • there's a countdown timer on the app
  • optional text message reminders (charges apply)
  • text message, email and VAT receipts (charges apply for the text message receipts)
  • extend your parking sessions in some of our car parks from your mobile phone
  • register multiple cars to your account

How to download the PayByPhone app onto my phone:

We recommend downloading the app prior to visiting our car parks if this is your preferred payment method.

Car park location number

To park using the PayByPhone system, you need to know the location number of the car park.

This is displayed on the signs within each car park.

Paying over the phone

If you don't have the app, or are in a location where you don't have a signal:

Telephone: 0330 400 7275 (you'll still need to find the car park location number)

Beware of fraudulent sites posing as PayByPhone on Google

We have recently become aware of several fraudulent companies posing as PayByPhone on Google. These companies use advertising to trick people into visiting a website pretending to be the PayByPhone site.

These sites require you to register. Then they ask for your credit or debit card details and charge you a subscription. PayByPhone does not provide any subscription service and will never charge your card without your authorisation.

PayByPhone are working with the relevant authorities to have these sites removed. In the meantime we would urge you to exercise caution when providing your credit or debit card details online in case the site is fraudulent. Rest assured, the authentic PayByPhone site remains a secure platform. It is PCI level 1 compliant, the highest level of security for processing payments.

Downloading the PayByPhone app remains the safest way to avoid these scams.
