Local Transport Plan
Local Transport Plan
15 year plan outlining transport strategies, challenges, and collaborative efforts.
Purpose
The council's third Local Transport Plan (LTP) covers the period from April 2011-2026. It explains the county's 15 year transport strategy, the challenges, and our plans to address them. A 4 year implementation plan shows short-term plans in partnership with other organisations and agencies.
Transport is hugely important to the North East. The collaborative working of both Combined Authorities allows swift decision making. This ensures we meet local transport needs and priorities.
Transport North East works on behalf of the region's Combined Authorities. They develop strategies and deliver funding for schemes to change the future of transport.
The North East Joint Transport Committee includes 7 members from each Constituent Authority of the region:
- 4 members from the North East Combined Authority
- 3 members from the North of Tyne Combined Authority including Northumberland County Council
The North East Transport Plan sets out our region's transport aspirations up to 2035. It includes a live programme of 243 schemes equalling at least £6.8bn of transport investment. A figure which will grow over the lifespan of the plan.
